What to Expect
Free Consultation
A brief phone consultation to answer your questions about how I work in context of what you’re seeking helps us decide how to move forward.
Please leave a message at 612-619-2878 or use email on Contact Page to initiate scheduling a time for a call. Voicemail is more secure than email.
Insurance
Insurance requires a medical diagnosis to cover psychotherapy.
If you have concerns or questions, let’s discuss.
I am in-network for many, but not all, Blue Cross Blue Shields plans. Please be aware, even if I’m in your particular plan’s network, my name may not appear online in the BCBS website directory. Call the Member Services number on the backside of your card to determine if I’m in-network.
In the BCBS system for behavioral healthcare, I’m listed as Kathleen Daly MA LP, a psychologist practicing in Minneapolis. You may wish to determine if you have a deductible or co-pay.
I am out-of-network for other insurers. Verify your out-of-network behavioral health benefit by calling the Member Services number on the back of your insurance card. When using an out-of-network benefit, I will give you a “super bill” to submit to your insurer or HSA for reimbursement due you per your policy.
Payment
Payment is collected through an electronic HIPAA sanctioned system designed for use by psychotherapists. Credit cards or HSA cards accepted. I have no access to your card data.
Cash or check also accepted.
Please refer to the No Surprises Act for Self-Pay statement found below on this page.
Hours
I practice Monday through Thursday.
Calls and electronic messages left on Friday may not be returned until Monday.
Sessions
In-Person Sessions
It’s my intention to return to in-person sessions in January 2025. At this time, online sessions only. Please contact me for more information. 612-619-2978.
Online Sessions
Online sessions require a confidential space. I use a HIPAA sanctioned and encrypted medical platform to meet virtually. Nothing for you to download. I email you a link to enter the site. Easy.
We cannot engage in sessions while you are driving.
Online sessions will continue to be available once in-person sessions resume.
First Appointment
We begin wherever you need to begin and go from there. I listen. I’ll also answer your questions. Basic information is collected. I’ll ask if you wish to schedule another session.
An appointment is typically 50 minutes.
Cancellations
If you need to cancel, please do so with at least a 24 hour notice to avoid a late charge. Cancellations in less than 24 hours, or no-shows, are subject to a full charge fee. You may leave voicemail or email to cancel. Insurance never covers a late cancel or no-show charge.
If in Crisis
Kate Daly MA LP is unable to provide crisis counseling or emergency services.

No Surprises Act for Self-Pay
No Surprises Act 2022 (Notification Required by Federal Law)
Beginning January 1, 2022, the “No Surprises Act” became a federal law requiring healthcare providers to provide new and established patients who don’t have insurance benefits, or those who are self-paying instead of accessing their benefit, with a good faith estimate (GFE) of costs for services. You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining what the charges could be for psychotherapy.
